The standard I chose to focus on is VA.68.F.3.In.a which is for 6-8th grade students in the visual arts. The standard states "create, interpret, and respond to visual art developed using new or emerging technologies." This basically means students should be able to use technology in their visual arts classes to learn about how the artwork was created and why it is important. I believe I am prepared to implement this standard because I took two art classes online in high school through Florida Virtual School. It taught me how to use technology to do research on the art pieces and better see the pieces up close at home which was very valuable in an online course.
Sticking with middle school art class, I chose a resource that I thought I would have liked to use in school. It is "transforming social issues with photo transfer and collage" which sounds like it would be a fun lesson plan. In the plan, the teacher assists students with creating a mixed-media work of art that conveys a social issue. I think this is a great plan because mixing the visual arts with learning about social issues is so smart. Getting students to learn about these issues while making it fun by using technology and art will help students better learn the material.
Proficient Internet searching is crucial for teachers as it enables them to quickly find accurate, up-to-date resources and information to enhance their lessons. Additionally, it helps them model effective research skills for students, fostering critical thinking and information literacy in the classroom. I will use Google's advanced search option to refine my search results and find more specific information quickly. This feature allows me to filter content by date, type, or region, ensuring that I access the most relevant and reliable sources for my needs.
Artificial intelligence has the potential to transform education by personalizing learning experiences and providing tailored support to students. In a K-12 setting, AI can assist teachers in identifying individual student needs and adapting instructional methods accordingly. However, it's essential to consider the ethical implications and ensure equitable access to technology. Overall, I believe that when used thoughtfully, AI can enhance educational outcomes and empower both students and educators.
